National Guard On Alert For Tea Party Protests

Force Protection Advisory mirrors United States Army Reserve Command alert issued before End the Fed protests last year

The Maryland National Guard has been put on alert in anticipation of today’s nationwide Tea Party protests, while a Homeland Security spokesman refused to deny that protesters would be under surveillance from the DHS.

The Maryland National Guard issued a Force Protection Advisory on April 11 which has since been leaked to the Internet, namely to the Jawa Report website.

The document warns the National Guard to be on alert during the Tea Party protests because Guardsmen and Guard facilities might become “targets of opportunity.” The contact point for the document is listed as the Antiterrorism Program Coordinator.

“This Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG) Force Protection advisory is in response to a nationwide planned protest activities scheduled for April 15, 2009. Although there is no known direct threat to MDNG facilities and MDNG members, they may become a target of opportunity during plan protest activities throughout Maryland,” states the advisory.

It continues, “Numerous entities have formed recently to express displeasure/anger over recent federal/state government actions: more taxes, increased spending, higher deficits, a surge of borrowing to pay for it all, bailout of the financial institutions, and etc. This movement can be identified by different variations of “TEA Party” or “Tea Party.” Past “TEA Party” events have been peaceful. There was a “Tea party” event at Solomons, Maryland, on March 22, 2009. “TEA” stands for “Taxed Enough Already.”

The document then gives a full list of the times and locations of the Tea Party protests in Maryland and advises National Guard personnel to, “Contact local law enforcement when feel threaten by protesters or protesters trespass into MDNG.”

“Commanders at all levels should establish relationship with local police in order to understand the local threats. Keep family members informed. Talk to other service personnel to share information. Practice OPSEC. Don’t provide personal information to anyone you don’t know. Avoid high risk areas,” the advisory states

As the Jawa Report points out, the majority of the people attending the Tea Party protests will be mainstream conservatives who are likely to be pro-military and pro-national guard. It’s almost inconceivable that they would be any kind of threat to the Maryland National Guard.

The advisory is more likely to be directed against libertarians and Ron Paul-style Republicans who will also be attending the Tea Party protests in large numbers.

Why the military and National Guard is concerning itself with peaceful, patriotic Americans who are merely exercising their right to protest is fundamentally disturbing. One would expect the police to be aware and prepared for demonstrations but only from the perspective of maintaining order and keeping the peace. The Army and the National Guard has no business putting itself on alert for peaceful demonstrations by patriotic Americans.

Meanwhile, during an interview on the Roger Hedgecock Show, Sean Smith, Assistant Secretary of DHS for Public Affairs, refused to deny that Homeland Security officials would be spying on Tea Party protesters when pressed by Hedgecock.

“Can you identify this man, spying on Tea Party participants?”

“Is the department sending people to video or record in any way the Tea Parties?” asked Hedgecock during the interview.

“Um, I can’t speak to sort of things that are law enforcement sensitive. Um, so I can’t speak to any current law enforcement operations,” responded Smith.

Smith also refused to clarify whether or not the DHS considered organizers of the Tea Party protests to be right-wing extremists.

Smith implied that the the controversy surrounding the report following the widespread outrage would roll on but appeared to rule out any kind of retraction, saying that the report stands.

COINTELPRO tactics in force as federal government intensifies Bushist police state under Obama administration

The FBI were spying on Tea Party protesters nationwide during last week’s demonstrations as part of a covert program conducted without the knowledge of local law enforcement, according to a source named as a current FBI agent.

The Northeast Intelligence Network reports that a concerned unnamed FBI agent risked his career in blowing the whistle on the fact that Tea Party protesters were subject to covert surveillance.

The FBI agent allegedly told Doug Haggman, “The Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Assessment that is receiving so much attention is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and the true patriotic citizens of this country are on the Titanic. This is what bothers me. But is goes far beyond that assessment. There have been very significant changes made over the last few years that redirect the focus and assets of the intelligence community internally. These changes have greatly accelerated under this administration, and the threats have been redefined to include those who used to be patriots. It’s not only chilling but absolutely insulting to God-fearing Americans.”

The source claims that a single page FBI directive was dispatched from FBI headquarters in Washington DC on March 23 requesting that Special Agents in Charge (SACs) “verify the date, time and location of each TEA Party within their region and supply that information to FBI headquarters in Washington.”

Agents were then instructed to compile information on the organizers of the different protests and also send the information back to FBI headquarters. On April 6, they were subsequently asked to conduct covert surveillance and data collection of the protesters attending the Tea Party demonstrations. Surveillance was to be performed from “discreet fixed or mobile positions” and was to be performed “independently and outside of the purview of local law enforcement,” according to the source.

The notion that the FBI would be conducting covert surveillance and building databases on attendants of the Tea Party protests is thoroughly disturbing if not unsurprising. Indeed, before any major political event the FBI prosecutes aggressive surveillance of political groups to the point of harassment and beyond. Before the 2004 Republican Convention, the FBI initiated a nationwide campaign to track down leaders of protest groups and interrogate them, as “part of a national effort to chill dissent in this country,” according to William Dobbs, the spokesman for United for Peace and Justice.

Not long after 9/11, the FBI returned to tactics that were first made infamous during the days of J. Edgar Hoover, by collecting extensive information on anti-war and other protest groups. To highlight the non-partisan threat of the police state, the FBI is now treating so-called “right-wingers” and conservatives with the same disdain. Basically anyone who seeks to exercise their constitutional rights to peaceably assemble and express free speech is considered a threat and even a potential terrorist, as a recent Homeland Security directive implied.

From 1956 to 1971, the FBI’s COINTELPRO program worked to monitor and disrupt protest movements across America as part of an effort to stifle dissent. FBI Director Hoover ordered FBI agents to “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize” the activities of these movements and their leaders. The final report of the Church Committee, which was tasked with investigating the legality of the program, concluded that the FBI had performed “unsavory and vicious tactics” in undertaking “secret surveillance of citizens on the basis of their political beliefs, even when those beliefs posed no threat of violence or illegal acts on behalf of a hostile foreign power.”

The advisory was almost exactly the same as a United States Army Reserve Command Force Protection Advisory that was issued last November before the nationwide End the Fed protests, warning that protesters were congregating across the country to demonstrate against the private Federal Reserve.

During an interview on the Roger Hedgecock Show before last week’s demonstrations, Sean Smith, Assistant Secretary of DHS for Public Affairs, refused to deny that Homeland Security officials would be spying on Tea Party protesters when pressed by Hedgecock.

“Is the department sending people to video or record in any way the Tea Parties?” asked Hedgecock during the interview.

“Um, I can’t speak to sort of things that are law enforcement sensitive. Um, so I can’t speak to any current law enforcement operations,” responded Smith.

FBI surveillance of Tea Party protesters highlights the fact that the architecture of the police state, which was massively expanded under George W. Bush, has not been dismantled or relaxed by an Obama administration that promised “change,” and if anything has only grown bigger.

The Obama administration’s announcement that the illegal warrantless surveillance of American citizens, a program initiated under Bush, will continue and in fact intensify under Obama, is another shining example of the fact that - no matter who is in power and no matter the political persuasion of those being watched - all Americans who have the temerity to exercise constitutional rights are considered dangerous and worthy of being targeted by the federal government with surveillance tools supposedly introduced to fight terrorists.

Was DHS "Rightwinger" Report Hyped As Pretext To Crack Down On Tax Protests?
Legitimate protest movements being misrepresented as "right-wing backlash"

A wave of mainstream media attention has led to increasing speculation that the Homeland Security report on "the rise of the right wing" was deliberately leaked and hyped as part of an effort to falsely categorize, demonize and crack down on legitimate protest movements that have nothing to do with the right-wing.

Yesterday the Washington Times picked up on the newly uncovered document which we covered in our article on Monday. Now over 500 stories on the report pop up in a cursory google news search.

The report, entitled Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment (PDF link) was leaked to the Internet a few days ago. It equates gun owners with violent terrorists and states that radical extremists are “stockpiling” weapons in fear of an Obama administration gun ban.

The document characterizes concerns about the economy, unemployment, the loss of U.S. sovereignty and the move towards global government as “rightwing extremist chatter on the Internet” which itself is defined as a potential tool for terrorists to network, build bombs, and send encrypted messages to each other.

A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.

The fact that the report also draws on the extrememly recent Poplawski cop-shooting incident, which was universally seized upon by the left leaning media and attributed to the influence of a right-wing backlash, has some asking questions over the timing of the leak.

A Reuters report from yesterday revealed that the DHS completed a similar assessment of "left-wing radicals" in January and had it distributed to federal, state and local police agencies. However, no media attention was garnered from the report.

Take this BBC article as one mainstream article as an example of how the DHS assessment is now being presented by the corporate media.

Restrictions on conservatives' freedom of speech, as if only conservatives should concerned with upholding the first amendment. Forgive me if I'm wrong but last time I checked the US Constitution applied to every man, woman and child in America.

Instead of highlighting, questioning and decrying the fact that the DHS has labeled those concerned about the economy as right-wing extremists, the mainstream media is pushing and amplifying the very same notion.

Many have also questioned the timing of the surfacing of the new DHS report, just days before the nationwide "tea party" tax protests.

In the wake of the DHS right-wing revelation, the Maryland National Guard has been put on alert in anticipation of today’s protests, while the DHS has refused to deny that demostrators will be surveilled by the agency.

Of course, tea party protesters are not "dangerous rightwingers", many of them are not even conservatives, but rather libertarians. Indeed there has been increasing chatter regarding the notion that the tea party movment has been hijacked by Republicans. For direct evidence of this, one only has to look to the gaggle of Fox News anchors that have taken over protests throughout the country today.

This is an example of a concerning trend where anyone continuing to criticise the government beyond the lifespan of the Bush administration is now being lumped into the category of "rightwingers".

Talking heads such as Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, whose only real loyalty lies with their corporate masters, are seizing upon any movement now critical of the federal government in order to push their tired brand of brainwashing.

The problem is that the real grassroots patriot movements and defenders of the constitution are now being scurrilously affiliated with such universally derided filth.

“Domestic Extremism Lexicon” memo says “patriot movement” primarily comprises of “violent” groups

A new Homeland Security document that received little attention during last week’s swine flu coverage shockingly lists the “alternative media” with other radical extremist groups and implies that people who disagree with the mass media’s version of events are potential domestic terrorists.

The “official use only” document is entitled “Domestic Extremism Lexicon” and was released on March 26, two weeks before the infamous “right-wing extremists” report that generated so much media attention throughout April.

According to World Net Daily, the DHS document was almost immediately rescinded, but the groups listed alongside Neo-Nazis, Aryan prison gangs and black power extremists again prove that the federal government is targeting American citizens who are merely knowledgeable about their rights and up on current issues as potential domestic terrorists to be treated as a “threat” to law enforcement.

“(U//FOUO) Homeland Security Reference Aids—prepared by the DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A)—provide baseline information on a variety of homeland security issues. This product is one in a series of reference aids designed to provide operational and intelligence advice and assistance to other elements of DHS, as well as state, local, and regional fusions centers. DHS/I&A intends this background information to assist federal, state, local, and tribal homeland security and law enforcement officials in conducting analytic activities. This product provides definitions for key terms and phrases that often appear in DHS analysis that addresses the nature and scope of the threat that domestic, non-Islamic extremism poses to the United States. Definitions were derived from a variety of open source materials and unclassified information, then further developed during facilitated workshops with DHS intelligence analysts knowledgeable about domestic, non-Islamic extremism in the United States.”

In the same breath as radical Cuban Communists, the “decentralized terrorist movement,” “lone terrorists,” “racist skinheads” and the Mexican separatist movement, we find an entry for “alternative media,” alongside the blurb, “a term used to describe various information sources that provide a forum for interpretations of events and issues that differ radically from those presented in mass media products and outlets.”

That’s right folks - the federal government is training its enforcers that people who don’t believe everything they see on Fox News, CNN or read in the New York Times are to be treated as a “threat” and a potential violent domestic terrorist.

Apparently it’s not enough to treat Ron Paul supporters, people who fly U.S. flags or people who are able to accurately recite the Bill of Rights as potential mass killers, now anyone who merely questions what is reported by the corporate media is also a danger, according to the federal government.

The document also lists people who oppose abortion, people who oppose giving drivers licenses to illegal immigrants and states that they “can be broadly divided into those who are primarily hate-oriented, and those who are mainly antigovernment and reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority. This term also may refer to rightwing extremist movements that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”

The document also mentions the “patriot movement” and states that it “primarily comprises (of) violent antigovernment groups.”

As we have documented for years, we haven’t yet come across a violent member of the “patriot movement” who wasn’t also a federal provocateur or at least someone being radicalized by the feds - Timothy McVeigh being a prime example.

The conclusion at the foot of the document encourages recipients in law enforcement to “report information concerning suspicious or criminal activity to DHS and the FBI.” So now according to the feds, running a news website that isn’t owned by General Electric or Rupert Murdoch is suspicious and potentially criminal.

As we reported last month, another recent Department of Homeland Security intelligence assessment equates gun owners with violent terrorists and states that radical extremists are “stockpiling” weapons in fear of an Obama administration gun ban.

The document was just the latest in a long sordid line of training manuals in which the federal government characterizes millions of American citizens as potentially violent terrorists who are a threat to law enforcement.

As we have exhaustively documented with the MIAC report and a whole host of others, the federal government apparently has very little concern for any perceived terrorist threat to America coming from the MIddle East or Al-Qaeda cells within the country, and indeed if any such threat existed we are only in more danger, because the feds have been busy training law enforcement that law-abiding American citizens who exercise their legal right to purchase firearms or who exercise their first amendment right to discuss politics or run websites, are potential terrorists who want to instigate a violent revolution.

FOX news trys to win over the massive movement of loosely affiliated groups numbering in the millions. The "Freedom Movement" thanks to the Ron Paul Revolution and the power of syndicate radio and film is gaining momentum. So much so like synchronized swimmers FOX news pundits spanning radio and tv have done a 180, talking about the constitution, gun rights and Ron Paul non-stop. Glen Beck has gone so far as organizing the 9/12 campaign and tea party tax protests, Anne Coulter likes Ron Paul all of sudden. Freaky twilight zone or hardcore psychological op?

Well now here is the kicker, you’re one click away from becoming the "FOX nation". The Foxnation.com website is the most blatant attempt yet at how the Right Wing paradigm is trying to reabsorb all of the elements of conservative society who saw through Bush. The very same "fringe" they were just months ago calling radical, and deserve to be in camps.

The site layout and their "slanted content" is exactly like infowars.com, how low and parasitic these criminals will stoop to maintain control over the political paradigm is astounding to say the least. Unfortunately to them the true patriots of this country will own the boards on this site and FOXnation.com will simply be a nexus point in the battle. Education for the FOXoholic’s will be swift, and will serve only to dethrone what little if any credibility FOX news ever had.

Lets have a real Tea Party and dump the affront to liberty that is FOX News and quick.

You Tube has once again proven itself to be a corporate gatekeeper working to destroy free speech and the alternative media after it suspended the popular ‘Alex Jones Channel’ - primarily because Alex Jones showed a print out of a news article during a live show.

The Alex Jones Channel, started by a fan but since embraced as the “official” Alex Jones micro-site on You Tube, has routinely featured in the website’s most popular ranking charts and has collectively attracted millions of views for videos painstakingly catalogued and uploaded over the past two years.

Those videos are now completely gone after You Tube bosses deleted the channel, primarily because the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette complained that Alex Jones had shown a computer print out of one of their articles about the Poplawski cop killer incident last month.

To claim that showing a print out of an article is a violation of copyright is of course completely insane - not a day goes by without TV news anchors showing newspaper stories on live television. Indeed, C-Span’s popular Washington Journal program almost entirely consists of the host showing clippings of newspaper stories every morning.

The real reason for the deletion in undoubtedly the fact that Alex Jones has been on the forefront of exposing stories that have later become major national scandals, such as the MIAC report. Our coverage of the swine flu hoax has again propelled us to the top of the video ranking charts and this no doubt had You Tube’s corporate owners Google running scared. As we have previously documented - Google has intimate ties with the CIA and the military-industrial complex.

To counter such egregious censorship, we are encouraging everyone to subscribe to and bookmark the new Infowarrior channel and alert people to the fact that this will be the new home for Alex Jones on You Tube (at least until they invent a reason to pull that one too).

YouTube is engaged in a hunting expedition against Alex Jones and other truth tellers. Truth is no longer acceptable on the site as it transforms itself into a pale reflection of Hulu, a site owned and operated by NBC Universal (GE) and Fox Entertainment Group (News Corp), that is to say a joint venture by a corporation owned by a death merchant (GE manufactures attack helicopters and jet engines) and a disinformation platform owned by a notorious neocon, Rupert Murdoch.

In the Hulu-ized universe, there is no room for truth or alternative media — all channels will contain the same schlock and mindless pablum already available on cable and broadcast television.

YouTube, the emerging Hulu-ized version, has no use for Alex Jones and has specifically targeted him because his videos invariably draw a large (in the millions) number of people. His message is not welcome in a commercial space dominated by Wall Street bankers and the “entertainment” transnational corporations they own, operate, and use to disseminate their opiated propaganda.

YouTube is owned by Google, the mega-internet corporation that has as its motto “Don’t be evil.” Of course, for Google evil is a relative matter, especially when it comes to the corporation’s removal or omission of information from its services, especially in the totalitarian gulag of China.

Google is infamous for its politically motivated removal of information. In February 2003, Google stopped showing the adverts of Oceana, a non-profit organization protesting a major cruise ship operation’s sewage treatment practices. In October 2007, Google banned advertisements from Maine U.S. Senator Susan Collins’ reelection campaign because she criticized the Soros operation MoveOn.org. In April 2008, Google refused to run ads for a UK Christian group opposed to abortion.

In addition to taking down Alex Jones videos, YouTube has blocked videos produced by Wael Abbas, an activist who posted videos of police brutality, and the American Life League which is critical of Planned Parenthood.

YouTube has its agenda… and it fits in snugly with the agenda of the New World Order.

As Paul Joseph Watson and Kurt Nimmo note today, Google is in bed with the CIA. In 2006, Robert David Steele, a 20-year Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer and a former clandestine services case officer with the CIA, told Alex Jones as much. Steele went so far as to name Dr. Rick Steinheiser as the CIA’s liaison at Google.

But it is not simply the CIA. Google is high up on the elitist NWO pyramid, a fact pointed out by an Infowar’s reader and missed by the editors. As it turns out, Google is a corporate member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In late 2006, Google bought YouTube for US$1.65 billion in stock, so it is fair to say YouTube is also pushing the CFR’s one-world government agenda.

“The CFR is the American Branch of a society which originated in England, and which believes that national boundaries should be obliterated, and a one-world rule established,” the late Carroll Quigley wrote in his book, “Tragedy & Hope.”

Rarick. “Not only does it have influence and power in key decision-making positions at the highest levels of government to apply pressure from above, but it also finances and uses individuals and groups to bring pressure from below, to justify the high level decisions for converting the U.S. from a sovereign Constitution Republic into a servile member of a one-world dictatorship.”

CFR “members have run, or are running, NBC and CBS, ‘The New York Times’, ‘The Washington Post’, ‘The Des Moines Register’, and many other important newspapers. The leaders of ‘Time’, ‘Newsweek’, ‘Fortune’, ‘Business Week’, and numerous other publications are CFR members. The organization’s members also dominate the academic world, top corporations, the huge tax-exempt foundations, labor unions, the military, and just about every segment of American life,” write Jack Newell and Devvy Kidd.

The “pressure from above” mentioned by Rarick is being used to silence influential critics of the concept of a one-world dictatorship now in motion.

It is, however, too late for the control freaks and one-worlders to squash the opposition. Google’s YouTube may have swept The Alex Jones into the memory hole, but this will not prevent the message from reaching millions of people who now know the New World Order is determined to reduce the planet to a slave labor gulag run by the international bankers and their minions.

Talk Show Host Banned From UK For Political Opinions

American talk show host Michael Savage has been banned from entering the UK by the Home Secretary because of his political opinions and opposition to illegal immigration, which is considered “hate speech” in airstrip one.

“Home Secretary Jacqui Smith (pictured) said she decided to make public the names so others could better understand what sort of behaviour Britain was not prepared to tolerate,” according to an ITN report.

The list of 16 “unwelcome” individuals includes Neo-Nazis, former Ku Klux Klan members, racist skinhead groups and Islamic preachers supposedly linked to terrorist groups.

Alongside these appears the name of Savage, who is a conservative talk show host in the mould of Rush Limbaugh who has consistently opposed illegal immigration and the declining stature of U.S. sovereignty.

“Coming to this country is a privilege. If you can’t live by the rules that we live by, the standards and the values that we live by, we should exclude you from this country and, what’s more, now we will make public those people that we have excluded,” said Smith.

Apparently the ‘rules that people live by’ in the UK do not include the right to free speech and political opinions considered unpalatable by what whistleblowers have described as a “Stalinist cabal of control freaks” currently in power in Britain.

As we have previously reported, people are mandated by government threats, peer pressure and cultural bullying to “tolerate” all kinds of minority groups and for the most part we do exactly that. The problem lies in the fact that the very same crowd that preaches “tolerance” is totally intolerant of anyone who dares utter a word against them.

The government in the UK defines “tolerance” as being banned from uttering a negative word against any minority group, and hate speech laws have codified the illegality of expressing an opinion which may be considered “offensive” to a minority.

Decrees of political correctness and the doctrines of illiberal mind control, which fronts as being liberally progressive when it is in fact fascistic, have swamped Europe to the point where Christian ministers are being arrested for reading Bible passages. It is also an illegal offence in Britain to criticize homosexuality. Television presenter Robin Page was arrested by police after he said in a speech that farmers should enjoy the same rights as Muslims and gays. Police traveled from 200 miles away to question Page, before detaining him in a prison cell with dried feces on the wall and later charging him with incitement to racial hatred.

- In 2001, Gloucestershire Police set up ‘Operation Napkin’ in which senior police officers were sent to ‘ethnic restaurants’ to eat four-course dinners and at the same time listen out for “racist hate speech.” Arrests were made as a result of the program.

- In January 2006 a student who called a mounted policeman’s horse “gay” was arrested under section 5 of the Public Order Act for making homophobic remarks and taken to court.

- Also in 2006, a 14-year-old school girl was arrested in Manchester England for making a “racist comment,” after she refused to work with a group of Asians during a science tutorial because none of them spoke English.

- Reports of “hate crime raids” where PC subversives are rounded up like terrorists by police are commonplace in the UK.

- In the U.S., members of the Repent America organization were arrested and criminally charged, with prosecutors attempting to secure 47-year prison sentences, for the crime of reading Bible passages on the street during Philadelphia’s 2004 “Outfest” gay pride march.

It seems that the only remaining sectors of society it is permissible to lambaste or make fun of is pedophiles and Christians - question any other minority, sexuality, race, gender or religion and the thought police are on your back in an instant. The sheep herd the rest of the sheep and no one is allowed to step outside of the pen.

New hate speech laws are now being passed in the United States - such legislation masquerades as being for the purpose of protecting minorities when in reality it is solely aimed at crushing the free speech of all citizens.

Though we have fundamentally disagreed with several of Michael Savage’s views in the past, the fact that he has been banned from entering the UK, a country that poses as a haven of free speech, once again proves that free speech considered politically incorrect by the government has been all but outlawed.

Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes has given perhaps his most dire warning yet, saying that the Obama administration is preparing to stage terror attacks, declare martial law and cancel the 2012 elections, which is why they are demonizing their political enemies as criminals and terrorists.

"It's obvious that they will stop at nothing," Keyes told attendees of a reception in Fort Wayne, adding, "We may wake up one day and there's a series of terrorist attacks, the economy is paralysed....martial law will be declared everywhere in the United States and it won't end until the crisis ends."

Keyes said that Americans should be thankful if they even see another election in 2012, stating, "If we don't wake up and work to see that it happens, we will not see another election."

"The minute they think they can get away with it, they will end this system of government and that is their intention," added Keyes, noting that everyone acting as if the time we are in was just "business as usual" reminds him of the attitude of politicians in the Weimar Republic when Hitler was rising to power or eastern Europe when the Communists were taking over after the second world war.

Keyes said that because the majority of people are decent-minded, they believe others will play by the rules when this simply isn't the case, warning that this attitude will allow evil to take over before we can do anything about it.

"It is so clear hat we have now put a faction in place - they are not playing by the rules and they don't intend to play by the rules - if they were playing by the rules they wouldn't have tried to identify their opposition as criminals," added Keyes, making reference to the recent controversy surrounding the release of the MIAC and Homeland Security reports, which implied that Americans who exercise and are knowledgeable about their constitutional rights are a threat to law enforcement and potential domestic terrorists.

Keyes said that the only solution was from the bottom up because our leaders "are so gutless that they won't even ask that the Constitution be enforced for clear, plain, absolutely unequivocal requirements," and respond meekly with "their lips shut and their hearts terrorized."

Keyes also warned of Obama's agenda to create a civilian security force and said it was part of the ultimate agenda to disarm American citizens and create a police state.

Keyes has been a vocal critic of Obama, warning that he is a radical Communist who is determined to destroy America, and that if his agenda is not stopped then the country as we know it will cease to exist.

The merger of corporate and government powers in modern America is plain and simple fascism, believes Gerald Celente, the founder of the Trends Research Institute and publisher of Trends Journal.

RT: I’d like to begin by talking about the Treasury department. They’ve decided to extend bailout funds to a number of struggling life insurance policies. This is in addition to the auto industry and the banks. Do you think Americans are aware of what’s going on?

G.C.: They know about it, it’s a new trend. America is going from what used to be the major capitalistic country in the world of free market – a crusader – into what Mussolini would have called fascism: the merger of state and corporate powers. So it is not socialism as people believe, it is socialism’s egalitarianism. It’s not communism where the state controls monopolies – it’s fascism, plain and simple. The merger of corporate and government powers. State-controlled capitalism is called fascism, and fascism has come to America in broad daylight. But they’re feeding them it in little bits and pieces. First AIG was too big to fail. Mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were too big to fail. Banks too big to fail and auto companies. And now we give money to the people that make the auto parts. And now there’s talk about the technology companies, wanting their piece of the action. The merger of state and government is called fascism. Take it from Mussolini; he knew a thing or two about it.

RT: What can Americans do if they are opposed to the road that government officials are bringing them down?

G.C.: The people don’t really have a choice, there is no ballot box. I’m of Italian descent and I’ve heard enough of mafia stories for the rest of my life. If you want to look at a mafia, you can call it a republican and democratic party. And if you want to look at the two families, the heads of the mafia, all you have to do is to look at the Bushes and the Clintons. They’ve been running the show now for some 24 years. We heard about Obama who is going to bring in ‘change’. A change you could believe in if he is dumb, stupid and blind. Look who he’s brought in as his chief policy makers. Retreads from the old Clinton administration. It’s a two-headed one-party system. So it’s very difficult for the people to vote in a new administration that isn’t part of the old one.

G.C.: In the Trends Journal, the top trends of 2009, one of our trends was that people are going to be putting out ‘recession gardens’. And now as we see the Obamas, they are planting their own garden, and that trend is taking hold. So he is doing that in positive ways, he’s bringing an element of dignity back to society. Those are positives. But now let me look at whether it’s true or the hypocrisy. So, they are talking about planting their own gardens. And they are talking about buying local. Oh, all that is wonderful, but on the other side of the coin they are pushing genetically modified foods while they’re eating organic. So it’s like ‘let them eat Frankenfoods’ – this is the message. So I see hypocrisy at every level. When they show me truth and justice, and the real American way – then I’ll believe.

RT: If I revert to our previous interview, I asked you – “what kind of revolution do you think would happen and when, and why would it happen?” and you said there would be a tax revolt. And now we are hearing more and more about these ‘tea parties’. What do you make of that? Do you think that that’s just the first action and many actions to follow from the American public?

G.C.: There is going to be a lot more. This is just a beginning. As a Bronx boy, my saying is: ‘when people lose everything and they have nothing left to lose – they lose it’.

You’re gonna start see people taking to the streets, like they do in other countries. People have had it, they are fed up. They can’t afford it anymore. Look at what is going on. Ten major states are raising taxes again as people are losing their jobs, income is going down, they are losing their pensions, they are losing their investments – and the government is saying: more taxes, more taxes, more taxes…

At the same time, what’s happening is, on the top, they are changing the regulations so the thieves could steal more, just as they did with the new banking act. They call it mark-to-market. So it is now allowing them to do rather than putting the real loss of their assets – the toxic assets that they are holding – they are letting them make up what they want! Come up with fictitious numbers and you are going to start seeing ‘bank stocks going up again’.

It is fake, and what they are doing is they’re changing the regulations on the top so the big thieves could steal more, while they clamping down on the little people – and the little people have had it.

RT: These stimulus plans, both with former President Bush and with President Obama, were rushed through so quickly and you make a comparison to the way that the US launched the War on Iraq with the same urgency of the plans.

G.C.: They push it through so that people are kept off guard – they put fear into the people’s hearts. Remember the mushroom cloud that was going to explode if we did not do it very quickly with Iraq? And remember the financial system was going to collapse if we didn’t save AIG? And who ever knew the AIG was, to begin with?! “What’s an AIG?! I’ve never heard of one before!” most people would say.

When the AIG plan was rushed through, the only person outside of the Federal Reserve and Washington to sit on that AIG bailout was Lloyd Blankfein, the CEO of Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs got $13 billion of taxpayer money so that they wouldn’t take the loss of the AIG bailout because they bet bad with AIG.

And who was the Treasury Secretary at the time? Former CEO of Goldman Sachs Henry Paulson. Oh, and who did Obama bring in to run AIG now for the government? Ed Liddy. And where is Ed Liddy from? Goldman Sachs. The fix is in, the game is rigged. Forget about calling this ‘government’, Wall Street has hijacked Washington.

G.C.: We need a revolution. And we’re going to talk about that more in the future. And we’re going to be announcing our plans for the revolution in the coming weeks. And it is going to be much greater than the tea parties or the tax revolts.

My morality, the way I was raised, there are two things in the moral code that are against everything that I was taught. The first is that you don’t kill innocent people, and the US is involved in killing innocent people both in Iraq and Afghanistan. The facts speak for themselves. It has been proven that Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, nor ties to Al-Qaeda. Yet the US is still waging war in Iraq. Number two, this whole thing about Afghanistan, taking over the country for whatever reasons, and the Russians know it even better than the Americans, and the English knew it before the Russians – this has been going on and on. The Afghani people have done nothing to the Americans. And now President Obama has sent another 21,000 troops into Afghanistan. So, killing innocent people is against my morality.

The second part of the revolution, why we are calling for revolution is that we are getting robbed in broad daylight. The numbers and facts we have discussed speak for themselves. They’re pick-pocketing the little people to pay off the big guys. This is against everything that has ever been taught to us in this country growing up as a free market society. It’s fascism.

RT: When somebody calls you a gloom-and-doomer, somebody that’s scaring the public… what is your response to that?

G.C.: My response is suppose you go to a doctor as if you feel that something is really wrong with you and the doctor gives you a diagnosis and this diagnosis is maybe cancer. Do you call the doctor a gloom-and-doomer? It’s the fact, people better grow up. The ship has hit the iceberg and it’s sinking.

We are telling people, just as the doctor would tell a patient, “Look, there are ways out of it but first we have to recognize what the disease is. And then we are going to have to be very inventive about trying to attack it in a number of different ways. We could go through complementary medicine, we could go through traditional… we could even go through a combination of things.” But you respect what the doctor is saying, and you don’t call him a gloom-and-doomer. It is a childish response that people have that want to believe that they have a new leader, and that the new leader would lead them down the yellow brick road of happiness. Rather than understanding that there is nobody behind the curtain. It’s the Wizard of Oz. They’d better grow up; nobody is going to save them.

So, we put out the information, we’re saying: “This is the direction things are going in. This is where we believe they are going to end up. Here are some strategies to consider so you don’t go down with the ship.”

Outside the political boundaries that seek to control dissent against the unconstitutional apparatuses of government, lies a group of independent people who have been attacked under the Bush administration as communist terrorists, and under Obama’s as fascist racist.

The people who propagate this fraud are millionaire media shills who push partisan propaganda to the benefit of the owners of both parties, the special interests, military industrial complex and banking oligarchy to name a few. This is extremely evident on the heels of the corporate media co-opting of the highly publicized Tea Party movement. The origins of this grassroots inspired event, consisted of people from different ethnic and political backgrounds, focused on the true monoliths of power and the architects behind it. Seeing past the deceptive false paradigm pushers of the right during the Bush years, true conservatives joined with libertarians, independents and democrats, to protest the private non-federal reserve system, oppressive taxing by the IRS that is used to pay for the interest of our debt, eroding civil liberties through draconian legislation and wars for empire that further fund the military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us of.

The presidential run of republican Congressman Ron Paul, presented a problem for the corporate media outlets who seek to pigeonhole issues based on political labels. The rejection of Bush’s policies could no longer be framed as partisan politics with the typical liberal talking points. Media shills had to actually look at the issues and determine why conservatives disagreed with his policies. This resulted in a true debate centered on the issues, instead of the usual posturing by the corporate gatekeepers.

The mass awakening occurring in the conservative movement had to be stopped, therefore these new brazen patriots had to be labeled as terrorists who hated America. This would be the media spin of the false right pushers on the alphabet news channels. During the Bush years, the left found common ground with the members of the growing liberty movement, but falsely believed that it was all about Bush.

Now with the election of Obama, we see the friends that joined us under Bush, retreat to their liberal corner and take on the role the neo-cons did, in order to shield Obama from criticism. Therefore under Obama, government dissent equates to fascist extremist who hate blacks. This is the standard program that the corporate left uses in order to quell government dissent by hyping militia groups and racists. Just think back to all the subterfuge associated with groups on the right, who were against government corruption under Clinton. An unbiased look at the political environment back in the 90’s would show that they were not all extremist, and the events hyped up in the media had the fingerprints of COINTELPRO all over it.

This type of operation can be used as a double-edged sword to infiltrate hate groups and identify activists. Another example of Fed operatives in action was displayed by right-wing talk show host Hal Turner. Apparently he was outed by hackers who found emails on his hard drive that showed correspondence to a FBI agent. This was reported by the Southern Poverty Law Center in this excerpt below.

These examples show the deceptive tactics that help manufacture political racial extremism in order to demonize, discredit, and distract from the true pillars of power that continue the agenda under both parties. As for the left, agents will typically infiltrate anti-war, environmentalists, or community outreach groups and push for acts of violence or property damage in order to vilify activists.

With the Tea Parties already hijacked by the neo-cons through the right gatekeepers at Fox news, I knew there would be a high probability of chicanery at the Glen Beck sponsored event. I went to San Antonio to counter this takeover, by passing out DVD’s that expose the parallel political ideology that is used to divide us. The thousands in attendance were fired up about the economic situation the D.C. cabal and banksters have put us in, but sadly were still stuck within the narrow confines of the left-right paradigm. The opportunity to educate the public on the history of the Federal Reserve, IRS and important legislation that would take action against both, was lost with speakers instead talking about the history of the Alamo, religious scripture, or chanting USA!, USA!.

Towards the end of the event I spotted a sign piercing the crowd with the statement "Save White America". Upon seeing this I had to investigate further in order to find out what his objective is for coming to this event with a sign like that. I had no issue with his 1st amendment right to express himself, my concern was that he was a plant that could be used by the media, to associate all the people at the Tea Party to racists. Since this was a large media spectacle promoted by Fox news, it was a perfect opportunity for someone to further propagate the false connection of racist right-wing extremism to the liberty movement, conservatives and anyone who speaks out against the current administration. My assumption that the media would take signs like this out of context and then falsely label the movement was proved correct, by the recent MSNBC interview of Janeane Garofalo by Keith Olbermann. This is type of despicable, irresponsible behavior by the media is nothing new, and we need to be vigilant in exposing these provocateurs who are used as pawns, marginalizing our movement against tyranny. The realization of the true geopolitical paradigm of control is steadily growing, nullifying the predictive programming of the false left-right political spin by the media’s shill world order.

Finally moving past the false paradigm will enable us to identify the people responsible for the controlled financial collapse, bring them to justice, and begin work on Constitutional based solutions that will return the government back to the people.

It’s becoming a disturbingly familiar scene in America - aggressive, overbearing and mentally unstable cops who think that it is an arrestable offense not to obey their every order - harassing citizens who have done absolutely nothing wrong.

The reporters, Darren Hunt and photojournalist Ric DuPont, were standing behind a barrier well away from the car wreck but were quickly approached by the cop - Sgt. Ramirez - who immediately shouted that they had to leave.

As the video shows, despite the fact that the reporters start to back away towards their truck, the cop runs after them after one of them dares to speak - reminding the officer that America is supposed to be a free country with freedom of the press and that the cameraman “can shoot if he wants to”.

The cop then grabs Hunt by his pants and threatens to arrest him, shouting, “I gave you an order,” with the reporter protesting, “I didn’t do anything.”

Presumably, the cop thinks that it is illegal and therefore an arrestable offense not to follow any order given by a police officer - or even worse - because the reporters were actually following his order - the cop thinks its an arrestable offense merely to verbally disagree with a police officer.

Despite the reporter not resisting or attempting to return to the scene of the wreck, the cop tries to slap the cuffs on anyway. “I’m not doing anything, I’m just trying to leave sir,” states Hunt as the cop wildly shrieks behind him and pulls his arms behind his back.

The officer then pushes Hunt up against the fence and turns to grab DuPont’s camera, before he too is arrested. With the two reporters now out of view, more insane shrieking can be heard from the cop.

Upon arrival at the police station, the reporters were released within minutes - proving that they had done absolutely nothing worthy of being arrested in the first place. Sgt. Ramirez has been placed on leave pending an investigation.

Some have speculated that the presence of military soldiers at the scene of the car wreck, which is captured on film near the end of the clip, was something that the authorities did not want to be documented on camera.

As we have previously warned, thousands of active duty military personnel are being brought back from Iraq and Afghanistan to conduct “homeland patrols” under Northcom. The Army Times reported that their duties would include training to “use jaws of life to extract a person from a mangled vehicle,” as well as ” civil unrest and crowd control.”

We have been ringing the alarm bell for years about the integration of the military into law enforcement and have consistently warned that the idea of troops on the streets as a matter of routine will be incrementally introduced to Americans by means of soldiers being used in traffic accidents. This would engender the idea that the troops are here to “help” in times of need.

However, the troops may have just been traveling to or from their army base and happened to come across the accident and offer assistance, which is perfectly plausible.

The major thing to take away from watching this video is the insane behavior of the cop and his belief that citizens must comply with his every order or face arrest, despite them having done nothing wrong whatsoever.

These scenes are becoming commonplace in America. Something has gone seriously wrong somewhere along the line with police training, a fact highlighted by the recent MIAC and Homeland Security reports, which revealed that police are being trained that American citizens who are merely knowledgeable about their rights under the U.S. constitution are considered a threat and potential terrorists.

The police have always faced a degree of suspicion from the public. The founders of the Met dressed their men in blue rather than the more military red to underline their civilian role. Keeping the peace is one of society’s toughest jobs and one that our police have performed sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

And news that Ian Tomlinson, the news-paper vendor shoved to the ground during G20, died of internal bleeding rather than a heart attack, is shocking. If all this wasn’t enough, there is a wealth of video evidence online showing excessive force being used against demonstrators. Yet it’s increasingly clear we cannot trust the police account of events. The Met has dodged, denied and delayed its response to questions over its conduct.

HONG KONG — Reversing its role as the world’s fastest-growing buyer of United States Treasuries and other foreign bonds, the Chinese government actually sold bonds heavily in January and February before resuming purchases in March, according to data released during the weekend by China’s central bank.

China has lent vast sums to the United States — roughly two-thirds of the central bank’s $1.95 trillion in foreign reserves are believed to be in American securities. But the Chinese government now finances a dwindling percentage of new American mortgages and government borrowing.

Do we really want the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) issuing our global currency?

In an April 7 article in the London Daily Telegraph titled “The G20 Moves the World a Step Closer to a Global Currency,” Ambrose Evans-Pritchard wrote:

Indeed they will. The article is subtitled, “The world is a step closer to a global currency, backed by a global central bank, running monetary policy for all humanity.” Which naturally raises the question, who or what will serve as this global central bank, cloaked with the power to issue the global currency and police monetary policy for all humanity? When the world’s central bankers met in Washington last September, they discussed what body might be in a position to serve in that awesome and fearful role. A former governor of the Bank of England stated:

“[T]he answer might already be staring us in the face, in the form of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS)…. The IMF tends to couch its warnings about economic problems in very diplomatic language, but the BIS is more independent and much better placed to deal with this if it is given the power to do so.”[1]

And if that vision doesn’t alarm conspiracy theorists, it should. The BIS has been called “the most exclusive, secretive, and powerful supranational club in the world.” Founded in Basel, Switzerland, in 1930, it has been scandal-ridden from its beginnings. According to Charles Higham in his book Trading with the Enemy, by the late 1930s the BIS had assumed an openly pro-Nazi bias. This was corroborated years later in a BBC Timewatch film titled “Banking with Hitler,” broadcast in 1998.[2] In 1944, the American government backed a resolution at the Bretton-Woods Conference calling for the liquidation of the BIS, following Czech accusations that it was laundering gold stolen by the Nazis from occupied Europe; but the central bankers succeeded in quietly snuffing out the American resolution.[3]

In Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time (1966), Dr. Carroll Quigley revealed the key role played in global finance by the BIS behind the scenes. Dr. Quigley was Professor of History at Georgetown University, where he was President Bill Clinton’s mentor. He was also an insider, groomed by the powerful clique he called “the international bankers.” His credibility is heightened by the fact that he actually espoused their goals. He wrote:

The key to their success, said Quigley, was that the international bankers would control and manipulate the money system of a nation while letting it appear to be controlled by the government. The statement echoed an often-quoted one made by the German patriarch of what would become the most powerful banking dynasty in the world. Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild famously said in 1791:

Mayer’s five sons were sent to the major capitals of Europe – London, Paris, Vienna, Berlin and Naples – with the mission of establishing a banking system that would be outside government control. The economic and political systems of nations would be controlled not by citizens but by bankers, for the benefit of bankers. Eventually, a privately-owned “central bank” was established in nearly every country; and this central banking system has now gained control over the economies of the world. Central banks have the authority to print money in their respective countries, and it is from these banks that governments must borrow money to pay their debts and fund their operations. The result is a global economy in which not only industry but government itself runs on “credit” (or debt) created by a banking monopoly headed by a network of private central banks; and at the top of this network is the BIS, the “central bank of central banks” in Basel.

For many years the BIS kept a very low profile, operating behind the scenes in an abandoned hotel. It was here that decisions were reached to devalue or defend currencies, fix the price of gold, regulate offshore banking, and raise or lower short-term interest rates. In 1977, however, the BIS gave up its anonymity in exchange for more efficient headquarters. The new building has been described as “an eighteen story-high circular skyscraper that rises above the medieval city like some misplaced nuclear reactor.” It quickly became known as the “Tower of Basel.” Today the BIS has governmental immunity, pays no taxes, and has its own private police force.[4] It is, as Mayer Rothschild envisioned, above the law.

The BIS is now composed of 55 member nations, but the club that meets regularly in Basel is a much smaller group; and even within it, there is a hierarchy. In a 1983 article in Harper’s Magazine called “Ruling the World of Money,” Edward Jay Epstein wrote that where the real business gets done is in “a sort of inner club made up of the half dozen or so powerful central bankers who find themselves more or less in the same monetary boat” – those from Germany, the United States, Switzerland, Italy, Japan and England. Epstein said:

In 1974, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision was created by the central bank Governors of the Group of Ten nations (now expanded to twenty). The BIS provides the twelve-member Secretariat for the Committee. The Committee, in turn, sets the rules for banking globally, including capital requirements and reserve controls. In a 2003 article titled “The Bank for International Settlements Calls for Global Currency,” Joan Veon wrote:

The power of the BIS to make or break economies was demonstrated in 1988, when it issued a Basel Accord raising bank capital requirements from 6% to 8%. By then, Japan had emerged as the world’s largest creditor; but Japan’s banks were less well capitalized than other major international banks. Raising the capital requirement forced them to cut back on lending, creating a recession in Japan like that suffered in the U.S. today. Property prices fell and loans went into default as the security for them shriveled up. A downward spiral followed, ending with the total bankruptcy of the banks, which had to be nationalized – although that word was not used, in order to avoid criticism.[6]

Similar complaints have come from Korea. An article in the December 12, 2008 Korea Times titled “BIS Calls Trigger Vicious Cycle” described how Korean entrepreneurs with good collateral cannot get operational loans from Korean banks, at a time when the economic downturn requires increased investment and easier credit:

In a May 2002 article in The Asia Times titled “Global Economy: The BIS vs. National Banks,” economist Henry C K Liu observed that the Basel Accords have forced national banking systems “to march to the same tune, designed to serve the needs of highly sophisticated global financial markets, regardless of the developmental needs of their national economies.” He wrote:

Ironically, noted Liu, developing countries with their own natural resources did not actually need the foreign investment that had trapped them in debt to outsiders:

When governments fell into the trap of accepting loans in foreign currencies, however, they became “debtor nations” subject to IMF and BIS regulation. They were forced to divert their production to exports, just to earn the foreign currency necessary to pay the interest on their loans. National banks deemed “capital inadequate” had to deal with strictures comparable to the “conditionalities” imposed by the IMF on debtor nations: “escalating capital requirement, loan writeoffs and liquidation, and restructuring through selloffs, layoffs, downsizing, cost-cutting and freeze on capital spending.” Liu wrote:

While banks in developing nations were being penalized for falling short of the BIS capital requirements, large international banks managed to escape the rules, although they actually carried enormous risk because of their derivative exposure. The mega-banks succeeded in avoiding the Basel rules by separating the “risk” of default out from the loans and selling it off to investors, using a form of derivative known as “credit default swaps.”

However, it was not in the game plan that U.S. banks should escape the BIS net. When they managed to sidestep the first Basel Accord, a second set of rules was imposed known as Basel II. The new rules were established in 2004, but they were not levied on U.S. banks until November 2007, the month after the Dow passed 14,000 to reach its all-time high. The economy was all downhill from there. Basel II had the same effect on U.S. banks that Basel I had on Japanese banks: they have been struggling ever since to survive.[8]

Basel II requires banks to adjust the value of their marketable securities to the “market price” of the security, a rule called “mark to market.”[9] The rule has theoretical merit, but the problem is timing: it was imposed ex post facto, after the banks already had the hard-to-market assets on their books. Lenders that had been considered sufficiently well capitalized to make new loans suddenly found they were insolvent. At least, they would have been insolvent if they had tried to sell their assets, an assumption required by the new rule. Financial analyst John Berlau complained:

Imposing the mark-to-market rule on U.S. banks caused an instant credit freeze, which proceeded to take down the economies not only of the U.S. but of countries worldwide. In early April 2009, the mark-to-market rule was finally softened by the U.S. Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB); but critics said the modification did not go far enough, and it was done in response to pressure from politicians and bankers, not out of any fundamental change of heart or policies by the BIS.

And that is where the conspiracy theorists come in. Why did the BIS not retract or at least modify Basel II after seeing the devastation it had caused? Why did it sit idly by as the global economy came crashing down? Was the goal to create so much economic havoc that the world would rush with relief into the waiting arms of the BIS with its privately-created global currency? The plot thickens …

A segment on Fox News’ Fox and Friends this morning explored the issue of whether a swine flu pandemic could result in a declaration of martial law in America and a suspension of constitutional rights.

“If it becomes a pandemic, you could lose some simple rights - like going to the movies,” said host Steve Doocy, before introducing legal analyst Peter J. Johnson, Jr.

“People in our government need to start thinking about how, if this actually becomes a pandemic, how it’s going to affect our daily life and our rights,” said Johnson, before asking if people who try to escape quarantines or refuse mandatory vaccinations would face jail time.

Johnson added that Americans were willing to give up rights in order to “stay alive” but that an orderly discussion of how that would happen needs to take place.

Closing schools, closing the border, forcibly quarantining Americans and eliminating the right to freely assemble, including preventing people from going to shopping malls, were all mentioned as possibilities.

“What about legislatures? What about the U.S. Congress? What about courts of law? What about not impaneling juries because we don’t want to have public assemblies?” asked Johnson.

“Plus the possibility of martial law, but that’s a whole other conversation,” added Doocy, with Johnson responding, “not going there”.

How serious should we take mainstream media’s hysteria about 0.00000189 of Mexico’s total population contracting swine flu? Is this a pandemic? By definition, it has to be geographically widespread (see Pandemic Nonsense: Flying Pig Flu).

In The last great swine flu epidemic, Patrick Di Justo shows that the 1976 epidemic that the government-media-CDC warned us about never occurred.

Some fear this latest flu outbreak will be used to impose martial law. In fact, the Massachusetts Senate just passed such a bill, 36-0. It goes to the House next. Martial law? Home invasions? Two siblings in Massachusetts did recently travel to Mexico and contract the swine flu. Neither are hospitalized and both are at home recovering.

The bill also protects from liability those who assist the government. So, if the vaccine is deadlier than the virus, Big Pharma can’t be sued, it seems.

Reuters reported in WHO warns flu pandemic imminent that the swine flu virus “killed the first person outside of Mexico, a toddler in Texas.” It never clarifies that the baby was from Mexico. The Reuters report makes other misstatements. According to Mexican authorities, as reported by the Washington Post Bureau Chief in Mexico Wednesday morning, April 29:

Yet, Reuters reported ”159″ swine flu deaths in Mexico. Only seven have died as of Wednesday morning – in a nation of 109,995,400. That’s 0.0000000636 of the entire population. Even if we use the higher figure of 208 possible cases of swine flu (of which only 49 are confirmed) in Mexico, that amounts to 0.00000189 of the population. Hardly a blip on the map of terrible diseases.

Yesterday, the UK Guardian reported that the World Health Organization’s assistant director general said:

Dr. Leonard Horowitz, a Harvard graduate and internationally known authority in public health, accuses biotech firm, Novavax, saying, “This unprecedented H1N1-H5N1 flu outbreak implicates the Anglo-American Vaccine Pipeline.”

The New Scientist magazine does not believe this is a genetically engineered strain unleashed on humanity by misanthropes. Instead, it posits that factory farms, legally known as Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), are likely the culprit:

But small holdings, it says, can also be a source for pig-to-human transmission:

The New Scientist cautions that animal vaccines might make things worse causing super-viruses to evolve. Dr. Horowitz agrees, but on different grounds. He asserts that nano-sized anti-microbial silver-based medicines are safer and far less expensive than mercury and aluminum based vaccines using genetically modified organisms.

Activists have long condemned CAFOs. Grist Magazine named a Smithfield Foods subsidiary as a possible culprit in Mexico – a huge factory farm. (Even Grist and Global Research get the number of dead wrong, probably by relying on mainstream media.)

Ron Paul is -- or was -- an ob-gyn doctor. So he should know, right? And he says all this swine flu H2ON9 or whatever scary flu talk is, well, just that -- scare talk. Just another facet of an ongoing plot by the federal government to frighten the public and assume more control over the lives of Americans.

In a regular video report to supporters (see below), the 11-term libertarian-like Texas Republican congressman says simply: "The government shouldn't be in the medical business."

He describes a similar outbreak of swine flu back in 1976 when Democrat Joe Biden was already a senator but Barack Obama was just a teenager. Paul says he was one of two votes against federal involvement in flu-fighting back then.

"There was a panic," he recalls, "and they said it was going to sweep the nation and the government came up with some flu shots and the government was going to inoculate everybody and save the world from this disaster."

According to Paul, one person died in the swine flu outbreak that year while more than 25 died as a result of bad reactions to the flu shots. Which sounds like scary stuff to those of us sneezing into our bent arms and compulsively washing our hands this morning. By late today word of mouth and exaggerated e-mails will have the number of those 1976 deaths up to 250 or worse.

Not to mention the secret highway being planned from Mexico across Texas to connect with Canada. But that's another conspiracy.

"Here we are once again," Paul says, "swine flu coming up and everybody's panicking. It's practically like we've been attacked by nuclear weapons. I mean, press conferences on the weekend! And how did the Department of Homeland Security get into the medical business?"

Paul, who's even older than another unsuccessful Republican presidential candidate John McCain, paints the outbreak of panic over the outbreak of flu as another bid by the new Democratic administration to grow government unnecessarily. He has more to say in the video below.

"The big question," the shirt-sleeved Grandpa Paul lectures, "is, does bigger government always solve these problems? It usually makes them much worse."

Which is, of course, a totally ridiculous assertion. Look at how well the federal government handled the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

MEXICO CITY, May 1 -- Mexican scientists studying the influenza virus here have found that its ability to spread from person to person is "fairly low" and no more infectious than normal seasonal flu, giving them hope that they can better contain its spread.

Scientists characterize the infectiousness of a pathogen such as a new influenza virus by assigning it a "basic reproductive number," which is a measure of how many secondary cases of flu a typical patient will cause in a population with no immunity to the pathogen.

With measles, which is highly contagious, the basic reproductive number is above 15, for smallpox it is above 5. For ordinary influenza, the basic reproductive number is between 1.5 and 3.

"According to the preliminary models, the reproductive number that we have in the Mexico City metropolitan area is 1.5," said Miguel Angel Lezana, director of the National Center of Epidemiology and Infectious Disease.

"It's a number fairly low, and that's good news," Lezana told The Washington Post in an interview at his Mexico City office late Thursday.

"So looking at this number, the main point is that you have a great opportunity to stop the spread of the virus," Lezana said. "So, yes, there is this problem with the spread within the family, but you have a good opportunity to stop the spread of the virus outside the family."

The Mexican epidemiologists caution that their work is preliminary and their understanding of the virus and its infectiousness may change.

Scientists, for example, are still debating how infectious the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak of 2003 was, which has generally been assigned a basic reproductive number of 3. The most recent estimate of the infectiousness of 1918 influenza pandemic virus range between 1.8 and 2.0.

"I think it's very early and any number will be uncertain. And if it is low, that is good news but not a reason to expend less effort on control. Rather the contrary, the lower the number, the more readily control measures can reduce its spread," said Marc Lipsitch, professor of epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health who is now assisting the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in battling the outbreak. "I don't know the basis for the estimates so can't comment except to say that at this stage any estimate must be preliminary, and small differences can make a big difference -- say 1.5 is much easier to deal with than 2.0."

Neal L. Cohen, former New York City health commissioner, said "that if the number is accurate, it might give us some comfort." Cohen, a lecturer at Hunter College School of Urban Public Health, said, "If the number remains 1.5 and the virus does not undergo further mutations, it's hopeful."

Other researchers agreed. "It's certainly low," said Thomas G. Ksiazek, director of the National Biodefense Training Center at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. "I don't have the data so its impossible for me to say that number and if how they derived it is accurate."

In Mexico, health officials on Friday said that 18 people have died because of confirmed cases of the new virus. There are another 326 confirmed cases of sick patients.

Lezana said, "The number moves. What we expect to see is this number will be lower in the next few days. The whole measures that are taking place here in Mexico City and in other parts of the country are precisely intended to stop the spread, introducing some barriers, by using some protective equipment, but most importantly to introduce distance between people. Those measures are intended precisely to lower that reproductive number. Hopefully if operations are effective we'll see that number decreasing in the next few days."

A Professor at the Royal London Hospital told NPR today that the descendent of the current H1N1 virus was “accidentally” released from a laboratory during experimentation.

Professor John Oxford stated that the strain of H1N1 that appeared in the 1970’s was “probably released accidentally from a laboratory, probably in northern China or just across the border in Russia, because everyone was experimenting with those viruses at the time in the lab.”

Oxford told NPR that he didn’t believe the release was malicious but came as a result of “some flu vaccine research that broke out of containment.”

The professor said that the reason the new H1N1 strain has proven to be relatively mild is because a lot of people had “been exposed to a distant cousin, the H1N1 virus that emerged in the 1970s.”

There has been speculation that the current H1N1 virus was deliberately released from a lab due to its highly synthetic structure and the fact that despite being labeled “swine flu,” it seemingly did not come from infected pigs and no pigs have died from the virus during the course of the outbreak.

As we reported last week, Baxter International has been chosen by the WHO to head up efforts to produce a vaccine for the Mexican swine flu that is spreading throughout the U.S. and Europe.

The decision was made despite revelations in March that vaccines contaminated with deadly live H5N1 avian flu virus were recently distributed to 18 countries by a lab at an Austrian branch of Baxter.

As we have highlighted, the probability of mixing a live virus biological weapon with vaccine material by accident is virtually impossible

There's been a lot of talk in the American media lately about the influenza vaccine shortage. It was touched off when British health officials suspended Chiron Corporation's license to manufacture the vaccine, cutting America's expected supply in half. The shortage is a serious problem, particularly for the elderly and for people with chronic respiratory problems. But the fact is, the flu vaccine isn't mandatory in the United States, which sets it apart from the 12 different vaccines American children are required by law to receive by the age of five. It's been more than 60 years since U.S. health officials started mandating childhood vaccines. But the issue is far from settled.

It's a fairly common sound at doctor's offices across the country, where every day, children receive dozens of shots that they're required to have before they can attend school in the United States. Back in 1940, health officials started mandating that children receive 3 doses of a Diphtheria and Whooping Cough vaccine before the age of five. Today, American children receive about 40 doses of vaccines designed to prevent 12 different diseases, among them, Measles, Tetanus, and Hepatitis B.

At this New York City doctor's office, Sean Reilly's 15-month-old daughter, Emma, just received her inoculations against Polio and Pneumonia. "It went really well. She's very good at getting her shots. Actually, she got three today. The first one she didn't make a peep, and then the other two they said stung, so those bothered her a little bit. But she's brave," he says.

Thanks to mandatory vaccination, diseases that used to be common killers in the United States have become mere blips on the epidemiological radar. Diphtheria, for instance, killed nearly 176,000 Americans from 1920 to 1922. That's the year the vaccine against the disease was first licensed. In 2001, though roughly 60 years after the Diphtheria vaccine became mandatory, just two people in the United States died from the disease. On the surface, it seems like a no-brainer: Mandatory Vaccination is a good thing.

Except that while child mortality has decreased dramatically over the course of the last few decades, the number of children suffering from diagnosed learning disabilities, diabetes, asthma, and autism has gone up.

"We have almost 20 percent of our children now in this country chronically ill or disabled. That's a very different situation from what it was 20 or 30 years ago, and there's no explanation given by the public health authorities as to why that is true," says Barbara Loe Fisher, president of the National Vaccine Information Center. The group was founded in 1982 by parents whose children were injured or even killed by the vaccine against Whooping Cough. Several studies have noted that a small minority of children suffer severe brain damage after receiving the vaccine, though the exact connection is unclear.

In 1986, the U.S. Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, which established a compensation fund… and requires doctors to inform parents about the benefits and risks of vaccination. But even after they've been informed, parents don't really have the option of refusing to have their children inoculated. Medical exemptions are available for children with compromised immune systems - though they're difficult to get. Most states do permit religious or ideological exemptions, but Barbara Loe Fisher says those are also hard to get, and there's a movement to eliminate them all together.

"I think that ideologically, certainly, the public health authorities are committed to the mass-use of vaccines to prevent all infectious diseases. And I think one of the most important areas of scientific research that needs to be done is to investigate why some children don't seem to be able to handle the process of vaccination, and instead of becoming healthier, they become sicker," she says.

But the number of children injured each year by mandatory vaccinations is very small in some cases, less than one tenth of one percent. And doctors with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics all insist that mandatory vaccination is the best way to prevent the kind of child mortality rates that used to devastate this country and continue to devastate countries where vaccination isn't pervasive.

Daniel Neuspiel is a pediatrician who's written articles for parents concerned about vaccination. "The one disease that in my professional lifetime has been almost eradicated has been Haemophilus Influenze B. The H-Influenza-B vaccine was licensed in 1985, and prior to that, I commonly saw children with meningitis and other serious infections from that disease hospitalized or even dying from it. And I haven't seen a case of it in years," he says.

That's wonderful, says Barbara Loe Fisher, of the National Vaccine Information Center. But she says the fact remains that public health officials are still mandating a policy they know can hurt people. And she says there's very little interest in understanding why children like her son, who has suffered multiple learning disabilities as a result of a vaccine he received in 1980, just can't handle being vaccinated. I think you look at the history of medicine, and whenever you take a 'one size fits all' approach, it usually fails," she says. "Why would it not be failing in terms of vaccination?"

Right now, there are only four companies that manufacture the 12 vaccines required in the United States. Last year, the National Vaccine Advisory Committee, which is part of the CDC, reported shortages in the supply of eight out of the 12 mandatory vaccines. But this year, supply does not seem to be a problem.

Feds Plan Vaccines for All Americans by Fall

U.S. authorities are pledging to eventually produce enough swine flu vaccine for everyone but the shots won't begin until fall at the earliest.

Scientists are racing to prepare the key ingredient to make a vaccine against the never-before-seen flu strain � if it's ultimately needed. But it will take several months before the first pilot lots begin required human testing to ensure the vaccine is safe and effective.

"We think 600 million doses is achievable in a six-month time frame" from that fall start, Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Craig Vanderwagen said. "I don't want anybody to have false expectations.

The science is challenging here," Vanderwagen told reporters. "It's a question of can we get the science worked on the specifics of this vaccine."

Alan Johnson said that the lesson of past pandemics was that initially mild outbreaks had been followed by something “much more serious”.

His comments came as the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in Britain rose to 18, including two children, with as many as 716 possible patients now being tested.

An independent school in London has been closed after a 14-year-old girl contracted the virus from a traveller who had recently returned from Mexico, in the third known case of person-to-person transmission inside the UK.

Jenny Stephen, headmistress of South Hampstead High School, wrote to parents to announce that it would be closed until at least Thursday, cancelling the leavers’ ball, after a Year Nine pupil became infected.

An 11-year-old girl from Wandsworth, south London, also tested positive after a trip to America although her school did not need to close as she did not attend classes while showing symptoms.
